Can Owls stop the rot?
Wolves Vs Wednesday: Team news & preview
Sheffield Wednesday travel to Molineux on Saturday as they bid to put an end to a run of 5 straight defeats. The poor run has seen them slip close to the bottom 3 in the Championship and they were knocked out of the League Cup by Southampton on Tuesday.
Wolves also suffered cup defeat against a Premier League team on Tuesday, at Chelsea. The Owls and Wolves both made a number of changes to their teams for their respective cup ties and both are expected to recall players as they return to league action.
Dave Jones has a number of injury issues to deal with on his return to one of his former clubs. Full-back Lewis Buxton remains sidelined with a hamstring injury and Rhys McCabe is unlikely to feature due to a thigh strain. Fellow midfielder Chris Lines is not yet fit to make his 1st appearance of the season but Reda Johnson could yet shake off a foot injury to feature at left-back.
On-loan striker Jay Bothroyd has apologised for a twitter outburst made in response to some criticism from sections of the Owls support and he could feature despite not yet being 100% match fit.
Wolves made 10 changes in midweek and few of the side that started in their drubbing at Stamford Bridge in midweek are likely to keep their places. That means that centre-back Danny Batth, who had a successful time on loan at Hillsborough last season is set to miss out.
The likes of Kevin Doyle, Sylvan Ebanks-Blake, Karl Henry and Cristophe Berra among others are all set to return as Wolves look to continue their good recent league form.
Having taken 7 points from their first 3 games Wednesday have lost 4 in a row in the Championship. The Owls have only picked up 1 point from 3 away games so far this season.
Wolves have won their last 3 league games and have taken 7 points from their 3 home matches to date.
The 2 teams have not met since March 2009 when Wolves enjoyed a 1-0 win at Hillsborough.
Wolves have won the last 4 meetings between the 2 sides and have only lost 2 of their last 20 encounters with Wednesday.
