Wednesday Vs City: Team news & preview
Sheffield Wednesday face Leicester City at Hillsborough on Saturday knowing that a defeat is likely to see them slip into the relegation zone with 2 of the bottom 3 sides facing each other.
The Owls will be without centre-back Miguel Llera who is set to serve a suspension for reaching 5 bookings this season. Captain Martin Taylor is set to replace Llera at the heart of the defence.
New loan signings, striker Mamady Sidibe and left-sided player Jeremy Helan could be in line to make their Wednesday debuts as manager Dave Jones looks to get the Owls back on track.
Leicester travel to Hillsborough without the services of top scorer David Nugent who is suffering from a neck injury. Nigel Pearson has plenty of options in attack though – Martyn Waghorn and Marko Futaks were both on target last weekend and Jamie Vardy is also available after recovering from a recent injury.
Full-back Paul Konchesky could return after missing the last 2 matches due to a hamstring injury but may have to settle for a place on the bench as Jeff Schlupp has impressed in recent games when deputising in the left-back position.
Wednesday come into the game of the back of 3 straight defeats, in stark contrast with Leicester’s form. The visitors are unbeaten in 3 and although 2 of these have been draws their last match resulted in a 6-0 win against Ipswich and they have only conceded 2 goals in their last 3 matches.
The sides have not met since March 2010 when the Owls ran out 2-0 winners at Hillsborough. The last 10 encounters between the 2 sides have resulted in 5 wins for Wednesday, 4 for Leicester and 1 draw.
