Beevers leaves Owls nest to head south

Defender on his way out
Having spent 2 months on loan at Championship rivals Millwall, Sheffield Wednesday defender Mark Beevers will make the move a permanent one in January when the transfer window opens.
Personal terms have been agreed between the club and the player on what is believed to be a 3-year deal meaning that Beevers will not play for the Owls again.
The 23-year-old came through the ranks at Hillsborough, making his first team debut in 2007 and little more than a year later he was awarded the Wickes Young Apprentice of the Year award.
Beevers had been in and out of the Wednesday team over the past 3 seasons. Last season saw him have a successful loan spell at MK Dons but he returned to feature at left-back during the Owls promotion push in the last couple of months of the season.
The summer signing of Antony Gardner followed by the August acquisition of Martin Taylor saw Beevers pushed down to 4th choice at S6 with Miguel Llera also ahead of him in the pecking order.
Despite this, Beevers played in Wednesday’s Championship victories against Birmingham and Millwall and at that stage it looked as though he still had a part to play at Hillsborough.
With this in mind it was somewhat surprising that little over a month later he was allowed to go out on loan to a Championship rival.
Since his departure the Owls have managed to keep just one clean sheet and they are currently on a run of 6 successive defeats. Martin Taylor has struggled to find his form for his new team, Miguel Llera has made costly errors recently and Antony Gardner has been out of the side on for a few games due to niggling injuries, something which has been a factor throughout much of his career.
In contrast, Beevers has featured in 11 games for Millwall since making the initial loan move. They are yet to be beaten with him in the side and they have kept a number of clean sheets during this time.
