Warnock's confidence growing
16 Oct 2006 - 13:50:15
Sheffield United boss Neil Warnock is confident his side can avoid relegation after finally finding their feet in the Premiership.
The Blades followed up their dramatic 2-1 win against Middlesbrough by battling to a 0-0 draw at Manchester City on Saturday to climb out of the bottom three.
Warnock expects United to remain close to the relegation zone for most of the campaign, but is convinced his side are a match for any other in the bottom half of the Premiership.
He told the Yorkshire Post: "We are in the battle to survive - and there are seven or eight teams in it - but we now know that we can give teams a game.
"People will talk about Manchester City not doing so well but miss the point that we are a good side. People don't give us enough credit.
"To say we have only been here (in the Premiership) six or seven games, I am very pleased.
"The Middlesbrough win was a massive win for us. Apart from the away games against the top-four sides, I think we have to go and try to win games. If we get beat trying, fair enough."
About the stalemate at Eastlands, he added: "I was disappointed not to get all three points, if I'm honest.
"We went about it in the right way, we broke well, looked solid and we created the best chances. If Manchester City had got the opportunities we had, I think they would have punished us."
