Sheffield United assistant manager Stuart McCall has suggested Neil Warnock could be ready to call time on his spell in charge of the Blades following their relegation from the Premiership.

United lost their top-flight status after just one season following Sunday's 2-1 defeat by Wigan Athletic and McCall claims he wouldn't be surprised if relegation brought the curtain down on Warnock's seven-and-a-half year stay at Bramall Lane.

"Neil has a meeting with the chairman in the next 48 hours and then we'll see what happens at Sheffield United," McCall told TalkSPORT.

"From a personal point of view, I thought that if we did get relegated then it would be Neil's last season at Sheffield because of what he has achieved.

"It wouldn't surprise me if that were the gaffer's last game in charge."

McCall has also suggested the club could lose some of their most influential players in the summer, including captain Phil Jagielka.

"We'll probably lose Phil Jagielka and one or two others," he added.

"But there is a good, sound base of players here and with one or two additions, I'm sure Sheffield United will be right back up there."
