    Ward seals Blades switch

    20 Jan 2009 - 14:03:51

Sheffield United boss Kevin Blackwell has not ruled out the prospect of more new arrivals at Bramall Lane before the end of this month after sealing the capture of Chesterfield striker Jamie Ward in a £330,000 deal.

The 22-year-old, who has scored 16 league and cup goals for the Spireites this season, has signed a three-and-a-half year deal with United.

Ward told the club's official website: "I'm delighted with the move. It's another step for me. Hopefully I can prove myself and I'm confident that I can.

"Reading the papers, I knew there was interest from Sheffield United and I was waiting for the right club to come along."

Blackwell added: "We're still on the lookout for a striker and a midfielder because I think that we're still a bit light in that department.

"One or two enquiries have gone in already and, if some Premiership players move on, there might be a chance for those clubs to let players out."
