Tevez cash available for Blades

Sheffield United boss Kevin Blackwell has admitted that some of the money received from West Ham United over the Carlos Tevez affair will be available to spend.

The Blades are thought to have won around £15million in an out-of-court settlement, giving Blackwell food for thought in the transfer market.

"(Chairman Kevin McCabe) said that if I can unearth someone then we can (use the money,)" Blackwell told The Star.

The 50-year-old qualified his spending power by adding: "I would probably do something only if we got a major injury.

"The Premier League teams can now name seven substitutes and that has made things very difficult when you are trying to get someone out of a club.

"Not only that, but plenty of teams are fighting for something at this stage, there's something at stake, so that can make it even more complicated."
