Taylor's Blades link grows

Reports suggest Sheffield United boss Kevin Blackwell hopes to tempt highly-rated Oldham Athletic midfielder Chris Taylor to Bramall Lane next month.

The 21-year-old, who has already made 137 appearances for the Latics and was linked with a transfer to Blackpool in the summer, would cost the Blades in the region of £500,000.

Blackwell admitted after the weekend defeat to Burnley that he was keen to bring some new faces to the club, saying: "We're like everyone else. We scout and look at what's available.

"If the players aren't doing it then a club this size has the capacity to change things.

"But we've got to be prudent. When someone like Adam Pearson at Derby County says the game's in danger of imploding then people have got to start listening."
