Sharp looks for strong finish
18 Mar 2008 - 14:37:30
Sheffield United striker Billy Sharp is hoping the end of his league goal duck can kick-start his career at Bramall Lane.
Sharp finally found the net in the Championship for the Blades following his arrival from Scunthorpe United last summer in the 2-1 win over Coventry City two weeks ago.
The former Blades youngster also found the net in last weekend's 2-0 victory over Norwich City and is hoping to finish a disappointing season as strongly as possible.
Sharp believes the arrival of Kevin Blackwell as manager last month has been a key part of his resurgence.
"The gaffer has shown a lot of faith. He threw me straight in when he arrived and has stuck with me - hopefully I can go on a run and get a few more goals," he told the club's official website.
"I've had two good seasons where I've scored a lot of goals. I struggled a bit this season, but hopefully now we can finish strongly and build for next season.
"I wasn't getting in the right positions earlier in the season, but a couple of goals have arrived and it would be nice to claim a few more."
"The gaffer has made me work harder and is pushing me to get better and better. He's driven everyone on."
