Former West Bromwich Albion and Middlesbrough manager Bryan Robson is expected to be confirmed as the new boss of Sheffield United after revealing his interest in replacing Neil Warnock at Bramall Lane.
Warnock left the Championship-bound club last week citing the need for a new challenge and just days after he left the Blades board reportedly met with Robson, who has been out of football since leaving the Baggies last October.
The former England captain will form a new management team at Bramall Lane with Brian Kidd, who was brought to the club last year by Warnock to bolster his backroom staff.
Robson told Sky Sports News: "I said from when I left West Brom in October that I'd like to get back into the game.
"I enjoy the management side and the coaching of the players.
"Sheffield United are a big club and that's the type of challenge that I would be looking for."
Robson guided Middlesbrough into the Premiership on two occasions - in 1995 and 1998 - and successfully kept West Brom in the top-flight for one season before their relegation.
