Robson appeals for patience
13 Feb 2008 - 08:50:19
Under-fire manager Bryan Robson has appealed to Sheffield United fans to give him time to turn around the club's fortunes.
Speaking after Tuesday's goalless draw with high-flying West Brom at The Hawthorns, Robson urged fans unhappy at the club's disappointing season to be patient.
The former Middlesbrough and West Brom boss will hold talks with the club's plc chairman Kevin McCabe on Wednesday which could reportedly spell the end of his nine-month reign.
Fans called for Robson's head after the Blades could only draw with ten-man strugglers Scunthorpe United at the weekend.
"What happens affects you in your family life because it is not pleasant when a section of the fans have a go as badly as they did at the weekend," he said.
"But for me I still think this is a real big club and, if they just give me a bit of time and let me get on with the job, and get right behind the players, I am sure we can improve a lot and make the club better.
"Do I expect positive vibes from the meeting? I don't know. Until you have a meeting, you don't know what is going to come out of it. But I still want to do the job."
Referring to the performance against the Baggies, he added: "It will not appease the fans at this moment in time. Until we get on a winning sequence, that is the only thing that will appease the fans.
"But, because of all the fuss that has been going on since Saturday, I thought that was a really good performance from my players."
