McCall tipped for Bantams job

18 May 2007 - 08:22:20

Stuart McCall looks set to be named Bradford City's new boss after being overlooked for the manager's job at Sheffield United.

McCall had been assistant to Neil Warnock at Bramall Lane for the last three years before the veteran manager decided to leave the Blades earlier this week.

United chairman Terry Robinson has also ruled out the possibility of former Fulham boss Chris Coleman becoming the new manager.

He said: "We didn't feel Stuart met the criteria necessary to get the club back into the Premiership.

"Chris has experience of managing in the top flight but limited experience in the overall context of football."

The Bantams were relegated to League Two this season and David Wetherall remains in caretaker charge, a role he has held since Colin Todd's departure in February.

McCall enjoyed two successful spells as a player at Valley Parade.
