Sheffield United defender Rob Kozluk faces an extended spell on the sidelines after requiring surgery on a foot problem.
The 27-year-old former Derby County full-back suffered the injury during pre-season and has been unable to shake off the problem.
Blades boss Neil Warnock told the club's official website: "We have spoken to the surgeon who performed the operation and he says it was a success.
"He has to have four weeks without putting any weight on the foot before he can start any rehabilitation work.
"It could be Christmas before we see him back in action, but when he was sent for the operation, we thought it may have been even worse."
