Kenny earns Hulse backing
05 Mar 2007 - 07:52:54
Sheffield United striker Rob Hulse has stood up for team-mate Paddy Kenny, after the goalkeeper's slip allowed Everton to snatch a 1-1 draw at Bramall Lane.
Kenny fumbled a ball into the area 15 minutes from time against the Toffees and, in his efforts to redeem the situation brought down Andrew Johnson, with Mikel Arteta converting the resulting spot-kick.
However Hulse, who had opened the scoring earlier on in the game, said: "Paddy has saved us on more than enough occasions.
"I can think of five or six games when he has pulled us out of it, so nobody's pointing a finger at him because he's had a fantastic season.
"He's put in some very important performances and we don't know what we'd do without him. On this occasion, it was just one of things.
"Paddy has been one of our top performers all season and he's a credit to the football club.
"He's shown strength of character and we're proud to have him in our team and to step out on the pitch alongside him. He's got nothing to reproach himself about."
