Blackwell, 53 replaces Richie Barker as maanger of Bury who left the Shackers to take up the managerial role at Crawley Town. He had not been in management employment since August 2010 when he left Sheffield United following a 3-0 home defeat to Queens Park Rangers.
The former keeper has previously spent a spell at Gigg Lane as Neil Warnock's Assistant-Manager before the pair moved to S2 in December 1999.
We wish Kevin all the best in his new role.
