International chance for Ward

Sheffield United striker Jamie Ward has won his first call-up to the senior Northern Ireland side.

Ward, who joined the Blades from Chesterfield in January, is in the squad for the forthcoming World Cup qualifiers against Poland and Slovenia at Windsor Park

The 22-year-old scored 16 goals in 29 appearances for the League Two side prior to his move to the Championship.

"With Kyle Lafferty suspended for the first game, it gives me the chance to bring Jamie in and give him some experience of being around the squad," said Northern Ireland manager Nigel Worthington.
