Injury scuppers Shipps loan

Sheffield United striker Neil Shipperley's loan switch to Hull City has been called off due to the player failing a medical with the Tigers.

The 32-year-old is struggling with a calf problem and will remain at Bramall Lane as a result, having not featured at all for the Blades this season.

Shipperley was one of four players recently told that they could lave United on loan, with only Alan Wright doing so before the transfer deadline, the left-back heading to Cardiff City.

Meanwhile, Blades boss Neil Warnock is hoping to be busy in the January transfer market.

He told the club's official website: "We've thrown the net very wide, we've been looking for players everywhere.

"We brought six players in during the summer who have all established themselves in the squad and if we can bring in three or four players like that, it'll make us a better squad.

"I'm going to try to bring in three, four, maybe five players if I can."
