Sheffield United will be without defender Derek Geary for around six weeks following surgery to resolve a knee cartilage problem.
Geary, 27, had missed the Blades' last two matches after being sent for surgery and is not expected to return to first-team contention until the end of November.
"He has had an operation to flush out his knee and in the process had his cartilage trimmed," confirmed manager Bryan Robson.
"Derek is hobbling about on crutches and we are looking at about four to six weeks before he is back."
Meanwhile, the Blades have sent teenage striker Dean Oliver to Halifax Town on loan.
The 19-year-old forward will spend a month with the Blue Square Premier outfit.
