Geary injury adds to Blades woe

Sheffield United boss Kevin Blackwell is waiting to see how serious Derek Geary's injury is after the defender limped off during Tuesday's 1-0 loss at Nottingham Forest.

Geary was substituted in the opening period as he suffered yet more injury woe after recently returning from a serious knee problem.

Medics have confirmed it is an ankle injury and Blackwell is sweating on his availability ahead of the weekend clash at Peterborough United.

The Blades boss said: "It's too early to say exactly what Del has done but at least it's not the knee again, it's his ankle.

"We're just hoping it's nothing major because, after all he's been through and the effort he's put in to come back, he doesn't deserve that.

"But obviously it's awful for the lad and you could see how gutted he was to have to come off. Del's a fighter though and, as I've said, hopefully he'll be okay."
