France determined to seize chance

Published: 13 Oct 2009 - 12:44:00

France has made only six appearances for the Blades and just two starts since arriving in the summer on a free transfer from Hull. But the 28-year-old could finally get a run in the side after a string of injuries have rocked Bramall Lane in recent weeks. France said: "It's unfortunate my chance came after Monty (Nick Montgomery) was injured because we will miss him. His work-rate is different class and as a ball winner he is up there as one of the best." France, born in Sheffield, added: "For me it's a chance to hopefully get in the team and perform. Everybody wants to play and I'm no different. With the team playing like they have done I've had to bide my time and now it's up to the manager." Jamie Ward (broken wrist), Lee Williamson (back), Matt Kilgallon (ankle), Derek Geary, Gary Naysmith, James Harper, Montgomery (all knee) and Paddy Kenny (drugs ban) have been ruled out in recent weeks.
