Cresswell joins the Blades

Sheffield United have snapped up out-of-favour Stoke City striker Richard Cresswell on loan.

Cresswell has joined the Blades on a three-month deal after starting just three games for the Premier League club this season.

United boss Kevin Blackwell moved swiftly to sign the former Sheffield Wednesday striker after losing Jamie Ward to a long-term injury.

Creswell made his debut as a late substitute during Tuesday's 3-3 draw with Ipswich Town at Bramall Lane.

Elsewhere, the Blades have received a double injury boost after two scares against the Tractor Boys.

An initial assessment of an ankle problem suffered by Matt Kilgallon has revealed no serious problem.

Meanwhile, Keith Treacy did not suffer cruciate knee ligament damage which could have sidelined him for six months.
