Sheffield United have been warned that they would have to pay big money to try and sign Barnsley captain Brian Howard.
The Blades have been linked with a move for the 25-year-old Tykes midfielder, who starred in the club's run to the FA Cup semi-finals this season.
However, Barnsley owner, Patrick Cryne, told the Sheffield Star: "Brian Howard must be one of the best players in the Championship.
"People talk about Sheffield United's Michael Tonge being a £3million or £4million player. What's Brian Howard worth? By comparison, he would be worth £10million.
"Brian Howard has been a truly outstanding player in the Championship for the last couple of years."
Howard moved to Oakwell in the summer of 2005 from Swindon Town and has since scored 27 goals in 129 appearances in all competitions for the Tykes.
