Sheffield United have handed a trial to Cameroon defender Jean-Joel Perrier-Doumbe.
The 28-year-old is available on a free transfer after seeing out his contract at French club Rennes and had previously been on loan at Scottish champions Celtic.
Perrier-Doumbe has won 12 international caps for Cameroon.
Meanwhile, Blades boss Bryan Robson has backed new £2million signing Billy Sharp to be a hit in the Championship.
The former Blades striker returned to Bramall Lane from Scunthorpe United where he scored 32 times last season.
"Billy has been improving over the last two years, and he's maturing as a player," Robson told the club's official website.
"He has good movement and he's a very good finisher - he proved that over the last couple of years.
"What he's doing now is stepping up to the Championship and he'll want to show that he can score goals in this division and, hopefully, next year, he can score goals in the Premiership."
