Blades snap up Geary

Sheffield United have signed Stockport County defender Derek Geary for an initial fee of £25,000 that could rise to £50,000.

The 24-year-old Irishman had only moved to Edgeley Park at the start of the season, having been released by Sheffield Wednesday.

Geary had made 15 appearances for the Hatters, having previously totted up 127 first-team outings for the Blades' city rivals.

United boss Neil Warnock moved to bring in Geary due to a number of injury problems among his Bramall Lane squad.
