Blades set to step up player hunt

Published: 01 Oct 2009 - 17:05:00

The Blades have been hit by a string of injuries to key players this season and Kevin Blackwell has confirmed he wants to draft in a new striker with Jamie Ward sidelined for another month due to a hamstring problem. But assistant Sam Ellis insists the Blades will not be signing Pericard despite the former Portsmouth and Stoke striker training with the club this week. Ellis said: "Vincent rang me in midweek because he knew me from our Stoke City days and told me that he needed a game because he's getting over a bad injury. "It was a personal favour which we were happy to do, so that is job done. I don't see anything else happening before this weekend, but we will be busy in the international break."
