Blades seal double deal

Sheffield United boss Bryan Robson has snapped up the Everton striker James Beattie and former Sydney FC star David Carney.

The two players were unveiled to the Blades fans before Saturday's pre-season friendly with Nottingham Forest.

Last weekend, United were reported to have made a £4million bid for former Southampton striker Beattie.

The 29-year-old former England international endured a difficult time at Everton following his £6million transfer in January.

He scored only 13 goals in 76 Premiership appearances for the Toffees.
