Sheffield United have wrapped up the signing of Leeds United central defender Matthew Kilgallon for an initial fee of £1.75million.
The 23-year-old could eventually cost the Blades £2million, having agreed a contract running until the summer of 2010.
Bramall Lane boss Neil Warnock told the club's official website: "We're delighted to get Matthew - I've waited a long time and have been very patient for 18 months because the move has never been quite right in the past.
"Matthew is the type of player who will fit into the squad, he's a nice lad, he's versatile and has good pace.
"We offered a lot more money for Matthew in the summer than what we have paid now, so it's a good bit of business."
Former England Under-21 international Kilgallon progressed through the youth ranks at Elland Road to make 95 first-team appearances, netting three goals.
