Blades loan loanee Nosworthy

Sheffield United added Sunderland defender Nyron Nosworthy to their ranks late on transfer deadline day.

Nosworthy, 29, joined the Championship promotion hopefuls on loan until the end of the season.

Earlier on deadline day, the Blades also landed fellow centre-half Toni Kallio on a similar loan basis from Fulham.

"We needed a quality centre-half who had pace and Nyron is a terrific defender who has played a lot of Premier League games with Sunderland," manager Kevin Blackwell told the club's official website.

"He has a good reputation in the game, fits the bill and we had to fight off competition from Portsmouth to get him."
