Blades launch Davis appeal

Sheffield United have appealed against Claude Davis' sending-off during Saturday's 2-0 loss at Everton.

Referee Dermot Gallagher dismissed the Blades defender after he appeared to bring down Andrew Johnson to concede a first-half spot-kick.

Television replays suggested that Johnson made a lot of minimal contact from Davis and United officials hope to persuade the Football Association not to suspend the Jamaican.

An FA disciplinary commission will consider the wrongful dismissal claim on Tuesday afternoon.
