Blades keep hold of Halls

Sheffield United have extended Reading defender John Halls' loan spell until the end of the season.

Halls, 26, has made three appearances since joining the Blades last month and will now remain at Bramall Lane until May 24.

That would make the full-back eligible for the play-offs should the South Yorkshire club secure a surprise place in the end of season promotion shake-up.

"We are pleased to have been able to keep John who we needed for cover when Derek Geary was injured," manager Kevin Blackwell told the club's official website.

"John did well for us and will ensure that we have strength back there for the final few games."
