Sheffield United boss Bryan Robson has allowed Egyptian midfielder Ahmed Fathi to leave Bramall Lane only eight months after the 22-year-old moved to the Blades.

Fathi will move to Al-Ahly in a £675,000 deal, after making only three appearances for United last season.

Football club chairman Terry Robinson told United's official website: "Ahmed has been a bit unfortunate in that he was brought in by one management team and was part of their plans, but changes at the top often change players' situations.

"It's a bit of a shame for the lad but Ahmed wasn't part of Bryan Robson's plans but he has ability and goes back with our best wishes."
