Sheffield United boss Kevin Blackwell has signed two players with Premier League experience as he continues his attempts to build a squad capable of winning promotion from the Championship.
Former Manchester City star Sun Jihai has agreed a two-year deal with the Blades, while Sunderland defender Greg Halford moves to Bramall Lane on a season-long loan switch.
China international Jihai made 140 appearances for City in his six seasons with the club, although he spent most of last term on the substitute's bench.
Former Colchester United and Reading defender Halford made only nine starts for the Black Cats last season and was loaned out to Charlton Athletic.
Meanwhile, veteran goalkeeper Ian Bennett has penned a new one-year contract with the club.
