Sheffield United boss Neil Warnock says he has faxed Stoke City an offer for striker Ade Akinbiyi and is now waiting for a response.
The Blades are keen to land the striker but face competition from Wigan, Burnley and Nottingham Forest for the player.
"It is dragging with Ade. He is aware that we want to sign him but we hear that Burnley and Forest, as well as Wigan, are all in for him," Warnock revealed.
"I don't know what Stoke's intentions are. They have signed a striker and are looking at another one, they will have to come to a decision about Ade sooner or later.
"We have dealt with it in the right way, we have faxed them an offer but have not heard anything back."
Meanwhile, Warnock has also been linked with a move for Nottingham Forest striker David Johnson but is refusing to comment on the rumours.
"I don't want to fuel any more speculation on the strikers I'm looking at," Warnock added.
