Blades are unique, says Riddle

Published: 26 Jun 2009 - 15:39:00

The Blades are affiliated with the Chengdu Blades in China, Hungarian club Ferencvaros, both of whom are owned by the Blades, and Central Coast Mariners in Australia . This means that they can send their youth players out on loan to those clubs for experience and get first refusal on the best players the teams produce. Riddle, who has just visited the Blades' academy in China, told the club's website: "It is a unique system in that we can send them to clubs around the world where the coaching is similar, the training is similar and they will be looked after really well. It is pretty exciting. "We have done this nationally as well with players like Kyle Walker who went on loan to Northampton last season and did well, it would be great if that happened with players in our clubs around the world."
