Sheffield United have agreed a deal to sign defender Marcel Seip from Championship rivals Plymouth Argyle when the transfer window reopens.
The 27-year-old Dutchman will join the Blades on loan until the end of the season on a deal that can be extended should they reach the play-offs.
He could replace Matthew Kilgallon in the backline following reports linking the centre-half with a January move away from Bramall Lane.
Seip recently returned from a loan spell at Blackpool.
Meanwhile, manager Kevin Blackwell has secured the services of on-loan Blackburn Rovers goalkeeper Mark Bunn until the end of the season.
Bunn has started 19 games for the Blades after joining on loan in August.
"I've seen a massive improvement in Mark in the last few weeks," Blackwell told the club's official website. "He had an injury, then lost form but he's come back well and has looked assured ever since.
"I'm happy to have him here, not only for his capabilities but also because he's fit and gives us continuity."
