Blackwell sticks up for Morgan

Sheffield United boss Kevin Blackwell has spoken out in defence of his under-fire defender Chris Morgan.

The rugged Blades captain was at the centre of an incident earlier this month that left Barnsley striker Iain Hume with a fractured skull.

But Blackwell told the Sheffield Star: "It's been a difficult week for everyone and for no one more so than Humey. But Chris is a great leader, a great skipper and a first-class lad too.

"We know that here and they know it at Barnsley. I never thought about leaving him out against Reading. He is careful about what he does on and off the pitch."
