Blackwell retains Evans faith

Sheffield United boss Kevin Blackwell is confident that striker Ched Evans will prove to be a big hit at Bramall Lane next season.

The 21-year-old Wales international scored just four times in his first campaign with the Blades, but Blackwell is confident in the former Manchester City man's capabilities.

He told The Star: "I'm looking at Ched being a big player for us. He was only 20 when he came here and he came here with a big transfer fee on his head.

"He turned down Wigan, Ipswich and Hull to join us, so he was a very highly sought after player, so we can't all be wrong.

"He just needed a season to adjust. In that year of him coming here as a professional, we have been a club in transition, so we have not helped the kid.

"He will be like a new player for us next season."
