Blackwell happy at response

Sheffield United boss Kevin Blackwell felt his side responded well to derby defeat last weekend after holding Hull City to an FA Cup fifth round stalemate at Bramall Lane.

The Blades players and management had been under the microscope this week following their 2-1 defeat at the hands of Sheffield Wednesday in the league.

But they started strongly against Premier League opposition in the cup and took the lead through Greg Halford before being pegged back in a creditable 1-1 draw.

"As you have seen today, these lads don't lose many games," said Blackwell.

"They know what it takes to win games and stay in games. That means we have a chance to win games.

"They have responded ever since I have been here. Today they showed some real courage against a side that has powered into the Premier League and powered through the Premier League.

"Our goal was very well created and we played a little bit better today.

"I think the crowd were different towards the players and they responded to it."
