Blackwell blasts cup officials

Sheffield United boss Kevin Blackwell was left fuming after seeing his side beaten 2-1 at Hull City in an FA Cup fifth round replay.

Blackwell was incensed by an own goal being awarded against Kyle Naughton, despite the ball appearing not to fully cross the line, before Billy Sharp was denied what looked like a clear-cut penalty.

He told the club's official website: "I am gutted because somehow we have lost a game that we didn't deserve to lose through bad decisions which are getting beyond a joke.

"The linesman made a split decision on something that happened very fast and he couldn't have seen it clearly enough anyway to be 100 per cent sure.

"For the second decision the ball was played into Billy, he turned his man and it was a nailed-on penalty, but the referee books Billy and that's so frustrating.

"We were absolutely superb and I am bitterly disappointed. I think anyone who saw the game would say that the lads deserved more than they got."
