Blackwell: Cup run wont fund deals

Published: 12 Jan 2010 - 15:12:00

Blackwell, whose side bowed out after a fifth-round replay at Hull last season, is keen to strengthen his squad but accepts any cash generated from the cup would be too late to boost his playing staff now. The former Leeds and Luton boss said: "The problem with that is you have to progress a long way in the cup to earn big money and by then the transfer window has closed, so you need to win it before the end of January. "Of course, I want to win it because we all want to win every game. My win ratio here is back up towards 50% again and if we can continue like that we are in for a good second half of the season."
