Birmingham outcast Gary McSheffrey poised to join Sheffield United on loan

Sheffield United are lining up a swoop for Birmingham forward Gary McSheffrey. McSheffrey does not figure in the plans of Blues boss Alex McLeish, who has told him that he can leave on loan. That has alerted United boss Kevin Blackwell, who is desperate to add attacking strength to boost their promotion push. McSheffrey joined Birmingham in a £4m deal from Coventry City three years ago but injury problems have restricted the impact he has made at St Andrew's.
