Award delight for Blackwell

Kevin Blackwell has been named the Championship manager of the month following an unbeaten March at the helm of Sheffield United.

The Blades won four and drew two of their league games last month to maintain their push for an automatic promotion place.

Blackwell was handed the award ahead of Owen Coyle of Burnley, Bryan Gunn of Norwich City and Wolverhampton Wanderers' Mick McCarthy.

Chairman of the award panel Chris Kamara said: "Sheffield United had the hardest fixtures out of any team in the Championship and came through with flying colours.

"They beat two of their fellow promotion contenders - Birmingham City and Cardiff City - and in doing so have put themselves in contention, not only for the play-offs, but also for automatic promotion if they continue this sort of form."
