Sheffield United manager Neil Warnock has made it clear striker Ade Akinbiyi will not be allowed to leave Bramall Lane on loan.
Akinbiyi has started just two Premiership matches this term and Derby boss Billy Davies hoped to tempt him to Pride Park on a temporary basis.
Warnock rejected that request and insisted the 31-year-old has an important role to play in the Blades' bid for top-flight survival.
He said: "We can put this to bed right now - Ade is going nowhere. He is just too important to the squad here, so no chance.
"I shall not let him leave on loan, end of story."
Meanwhile, United coach Stuart McCall has emerged as one of the frontrunners for the vacant managerial position at West Bromwich Albion.
