Wednesday's clean bill of health

Sheffield Wednesday have reported "huge financial savings" after keeping injuries to first-team squad members to a minimum again this season. The Owls have enjoyed another relatively injury-free campaign, with player availability, which has exceeded 90% for the second successive season, among the best in the country. A statement read: "As a consequence the club has reported a huge financial saving on insurance payments and less need to recruit emergency loan players for fitness reasons. "Players' availability is attributed to the physios' skill, hard work, organisation and the players themselves buying into new methods of rehabilitation and injury prevention." Wednesday's treatment room, led by head physio Paul Smith, comprises of a second physio, Dean Taylor, Ben Parker (masseur), Alan Smith (consultant), Richard Higgins and Alistair Park (sports physicians), Derry Suter (soft tissue therapist), Sam Morris (osteopath) and Lee Bray (podiatrist).
