Tommy Spurred on for play-off bid

The Owls finished last season in 12th place, 13 points from the play-off places, after a campaign which saw them firmly entrenched in mid-table throughout. But Spurr told the club's official website: "The lads have come back looking fit and sharp so the sooner we can get going the better and hopefully we can have a flying start. "The gaffer has high hopes that we'll be in and around the play-offs and I think it's possible for us to sneak in. We have a stronger squad from last season, with more experienced heads, so we have to believe it's realistic. "Consistency will be a big factor as we saw last season. We would be good one week, especially at home, and then we'd go away and not perform, like when we lost 6-0 at Reading. If we can sort our consistency out, that will enable us to get up near the play-offs."
