Thanks Baggies, now it's back in Owls own hands to complete the job

Wednesday handed Championship lifeline Sheffield Wednesday are today still clinging to their Championship status after West Bromwich Albion and Crystal Palace drew 1-1 at Selhurst Park on Monday evening. A Palace win would have condemned Wednesday to the third tier and the home side took the lead on 17 minutes when a Darren Ambrose free kick was guided into his own net by Steven Reid. The lead lasted barely five minutes however as a trademark pinpoint cross from ex-Owl Chris Brunt was nodded home by Gabriel Tamas. The Eagles had keeper Julian Speroni to thank for a string of saves and nervous Wednesday fans watching on would have perhaps feared the worse as the visitors wasted countless chances. Knowing that only a win would secure their safety before the final game of the season Palace boss Paul Hart went for broke towards the end, throwing on more attacking players in a bid to seal three points but their cause wasn’t helped when influential midfielder Neil Danns was dismissed in the closing stages for a head butting Graham Dorrans. The Londoners almost snatched victory with virtually the last kick of the game but Darren Ambrose saw his effort hooked away from close to the line by Marek Cech, much to the relief of all those of blue and white persuasion that were watching on back in South Yorkshire. Wednesday fans will have breathed a huge sigh of relief as the final whistle blew and the onus is now on the Owls to go out and clinch safety by beating Palace in the final match of the season at Hillsborough on Sunday. Another crowd of over 30,000 will be at S6 as the two teams go head-to-head to secure their Championship status, a point will be enough for Palace, which could affect the way they approach the game whilst Wednesday know that only a win will do.
