Strafford seeking fans support

Sheffield Wednesday chairman Lee Strafford has made a renewed plea to fans in a bid to boost season-ticket sales for the 2010/11 campaign. Strafford has been encouraged by early sales figures but accepts some supporters affected by the recession are struggling to justify the expenditure, especially with League One football next season a possibility. He said: "To have more than 5,000 season-ticket holders confirmed for next season by the first week in March is a fantastic step forward for the club but we now need to see as many supporters as possible sign up by April. "We are also aware that uncertainty over which division we will be competing in next season appears to be holding some people back in committing to a season-ticket. "However, securing a season-ticket is the best way to ensure we can build the kind of squad we can all be proud of. This is a slow process and we're still at an early stage of developing the club but we all need to show our support together." Wednesday have extended the first deadline for 2010/11 season-ticket sales for an extra month and placed a three-year price promise on those bought by April 9.
