Springett gets medal at last

Springett received his medal 43 years after the famous win over West Germany in 1966 after being a part of the England squad which won the competition following a recent FIFA ruling to belatedly award all non-playing members of World Cup-winning squads, dating back to 1930, a retrospective medal for the part they played. Springett, 73, made a total of 33 appearances for England during his career and was first-choice goalkeeper in the 1962 World Cup finals in Chile, but played second fiddle to Gordon Banks in 1966.
