Sheff Wed v Notts County

Sheffield Wednesday's latest signing Stevie May is poised to make his first appearance for the club in their Capital One Cup tie against Notts County.

May completed his move to Hillsborough from St Johnstone, for a reported B#800,000, on Saturday and is expected to go straight into boss Stuart Gray's plans for the first-round clash.

Defenders Lewis Buxton (knee), midfielder Jeremy Helan (groin/stomach) and striker Caolan Lavery (cruciate ligament) are unlikely to be involved, but fit-again Kamil Zayatte and Slovenian Dejan Kelhar hope to feature.

Goalkeeper Chris Kirkland may return in place of summer signing Keiren Westwood, who made his debut or the club in the weekend win at Brighton.

Garry Thompson is a fresh injury absentee for Notts.

Thompson, signed on a free transfer from Bradford this summer, lasted just 36 minutes on his Magpies debut against Preston on Saturday before having to be substituted because of a knee injury.

The experienced midfielder joins Danny Haynes (ankle) and Zeli Ismail (hamstring), both of whom missed the 1-1 draw at Deepdale, on the sidelines.

Taylor McKenzie, Liam Noble, Cieron Keane and Elliott Whitehouse are still waiting to make their debuts for Shaun Derry's team having all been unused substitutes at the weekend.
