Wednesday waiting on trio

Sheffield Wednesday trio Reda Johnson, Gary Madine and Seyi Olofinjana are all hoping to prove their fitness in time to face Ipswich.

Defender Johnson missed the goalless midweek draw at Blackpool as he continues to manage an on-going foot problem, striker Madine has been struggling with a hamstring strain and midfielder Olofinjana, on loan from Hull, has missed the last two games due to a knee injury.

Manager Dave Jones has no new injury or suspension worries and could recall Leroy Lita for the Owls' penultimate home game up front alongside Jermaine Johnson, with Steve Howard, on-loan from Hartlepool, starting on the substitutes' bench.

Jones must decide whether to start again with on-loan Bolton midfielder Stuart Holden or recall Keiran Lee as his side look to increase the three-point gap between themselves and the relegation zone.

Mick McCarthy will be hard pushed to make any changes to his side as Ipswich look to make certain of npower Championship safety.

McCarthy watched his side take apart promotion-chasing Crystal Palace 3-0 on Tuesday night to move up to 13th in the table - five points clear of the relegation zone with three matches remaining.

The Yorkshireman made two changes for the clash as two-goal Frank Nouble and Jay Emmanuel-Thomas came in for Jay Tabb and Michael Chopra, who recovered from respective knee and calf complaints to take their places among the substitutes.

The pair were joined on the bench by Patrick Kisnorbo, who also overcame illness to be involved in the match-day 18.

Winger Lee Martin failed to get over his ankle injury in time to feature but is expected to return to training on Friday, although the game comes too soon as he needs minutes under his belt before returning to contention.
